Allotment land solution to burials

ALLOTMENT space could be turned in to burial land under proposals being outlined by a Hampshire council.

Ringwood Town Council wants to extend its cemetery on Hightown Road by using the adjacent allotment – and the scheme is being recommended for approval by planning experts.

A report due to go before New Forest District Council’s planning development control committee next week, said: “Extending the cemetery adjacent to the existing site is a practical solution to the need.”

Committee members will vote on the matter in Lyndhurst on July 8.

A bit of a dead end story, is any body interested, a grave situation for the gardeners, time for a bier I think.
SW = body-show "oh come on that's gross"

It's time we went back to burying the dead, it's far cheaper and less polluting that cremation.

When they've buried the bodies they can turn it back into an allotment - get a really good crop of potatoes

A cremation is far less polluting than a barbecue!

Ashes can be scattered virtually anywhere and, if buried, do not take up as much space as a grave.

Where housing accommodation can be built on many stories, burials cannot, which is why they are running out of space.

If you think that burials are cheaper, check it out and I think that the cost of digging the grave and in-built cost of long-term maintenance of the site, it is considerably more expensive!

When I hear of allotments being used I was saddened because, in the first place allotment holders have put their heart and soul into that ground and has excellent soil, also Council have actually denied people the right to grow their own veg. Now, I know it is not a lovely subject but I have seen field upon field use for tips and then grown over with grass. These sites will never be built upon because of the chemicals put in, BUT how about burying sites and make use of this poisonous ground?

Excellent idea, like it. Cut out the middle-man, put the body in the bin and send it to the tip!
