Boy, 14, in hospital after falling as he ran over rooftops

A TEENAGE boy is being treated in hospital for serious injuries after going free-running over rooftops in Hampshire and falling.

The boy, thought to be 14 years old, fell and smashed his face, causing him problems with his airway and subsequent ability to breathe.

Doctors from Hampshire’s BASICS emergency response team went to the scene and are understood to have got on the roof where they anaesthetised him.

Fire crews were then called to lift the youngster from the building before he was taken to Southampton General Hospital to be treated.

Free running is the name given to a style of outdoor acrobatics were people run off objects and use the local landscape, usually at speed.

The drama took place in Southsea last night.

Serves him right.
We've had so-called
free runners round
here.There has been
damage to people's
properties etc,no one
asks them to do this and no one I know
wants to have to pay out to have things
mended which these free running yobs break. It ceases to be
just high spirits when it hits people
in their pockets.It's
hard enough getting by these days as it is.

Hope the prat is arrested for trespassing when he comes out of hospital, if the little punk had been running on my roof I would have pushed him off with no qualms. These punks have no thought to anyones property, he deserved everything he gets.

I think his drug-addled dole-scrounging parents should be fined infinity billion pounds and locked up forever, and the kid should be sterilised and forced to build AN ICE RINK

I think typical echo reader should change the "echo" bit to "daily mail" haha!!

As for this lad - he's no free runner. Parkour as it is actually known as is a highly specialised and researched sport. There should be a clear line drawn between silly little kids trespassing and what is effectively a professional stuntman.

Sadly this kid is no different to the young lads that copy the stunt bmx'ers, pro skaters and the trained martial artists. A quick way to get hurt.

It happened in Southsea.

No further comment needed.

Maybe he should just stick to tombstoning?

Less damage to property and more fish food
