A WARNING letter has been sent to parents of children at two schools following reports of a suspicious car spotted in the area.
Police were alerted by a pupil at Perins School in Alresford who had seen the vehicle near the site three times in a matter of weeks.
The vehicle is described as an older model Vauxhall Astra in red or brown.
Perins School has written to all parents to make them aware, and to encourage pupils to walk in pairs and not to talk to strangers.
Sun Hill Junior School in Alresford sent out a similar letter one day later.
A police spokesman said they were stepping up patrols by officers near the schools as a precaution.
She said: “If any youngster is approached by a stranger – either on foot or in a car – they should move away, head towards other people and busy areas and then report the incident to police.”
She added that if anyone spotted the vehicle again they should call Alresford police on 0845 045 4545.
