Girls' tribute to Michael Jackson, King of Pop

TWO sisters from Zouch Primary School in Tidworth have moonwalked off with first prize in a scarecrow-making competition.

Leoni, aged nine, and Emilia Roberts, aged five, won a day trip to Finkley Down Farm and a balloon modelling kit at their school’s fete for their scarecrow tribute to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

The girls, who are big fans of Jackson’s music, took about an hour to make the effigy.

Mum Amy Roberts said: “People kept going up to the scarecrow and getting their pictures taken with him.

“Castledown Radio came along and dedicated some songs to him.

“We have had a couple of offers of money – but nothing serious, I think!

“Besides, he’s got my dressing gown in there, so I might want that back.”

Amy added that he became an instant hit in the area.

“When we wheeled him up to the school people were slowing down, and some were beeping their horns. He caused quite a stir.”
