A FOUL stench has been getting up people’s noses in a Hampshire village for the second time in a year.
Twelve months after beleaguered Marchwood residents complained of a stink lingering in the air, they have been hit by another pong.
The parish council has been inundated with calls from people saying they can no longer sit in their gardens and have to close their windows at night.
The pungent odour – likened to the smell of oil and gas – has been blamed on the Slowhill Copse waste water treatment works.
Southern Water bosses say they do not believe the plant is responsible but have launched an investigation with trade effluent experts taking samples.
