A PAIR of aspiring chefs cooked their way to the final of a Hampshire competition.

Rachel Johnson and Rebecca Tyas, representing The Romsey School, have reached the last four of the 2009 Create and Cook contest.

Their brief was to design a two-course menu using at least two Hampshire-produced foods.

The cook-off at Newlyns Cookery School was planned to coincide with the start of July’s Hampshire Food Festival.

The winning school will win £500 for their food technology department and the winners will spend an afternoon at Lainston House Hotel attending a masterchef class with Andy MacKenzie, who launched the competition.
