BASINGSTOKE and Deane Borough Council has been put into pole position in a Hampshire league table by the people who matter the most – its residents.
When it comes to residents’ satisfaction with services, the council has claimed the top spot in Hampshire – and it is fifth in the country, according to a nationwide survey.
The results from the Place Survey revealed that 58.1 per cent of residents in the borough were pleased with how the council runs its services.
Residents also rated the borough highly as a place to live, with 86.9 per cent giving it the thumbs up, beating the national average of 83.5 per cent.
Every council in the country had to carry out the survey at the end of last year to provide information on people’s perceptions of their local area and the services they receive.
The results also showed a high level of satisfaction for the council’s services, with each scoring higher than the national average.
Borough council leader Councillor Andrew Finney said: “The national survey results show that residents across the country expect more and more from their local councils. The borough council is doing very well compared to the results from other district councils in the country.
“It is good to hear that we are scoring well on how the council is run, value for money and satisfaction with our services.
“But the figures tell us that there is room for improvement and we are constantly seeking better and more efficient ways to deliver the services our residents rely on every day.”
