A FAMILIAR voice for radio listeners in the south is making a surprise return to the airwaves next week.
Richard Cartridge, who was a popular voice for BBC Radio Solent, will now sit back behind the microphone for an evening slot with Play Radio.
He will join the station from Monday, taking over Tommy Boyd’s slot from 10pm to midnight and for a new show on Sundays from 6pm until 10pm.
“My loyal listeners have been campaigning for this for a long time,” said Richard, a former Daily Echo columnist. “I’m delighted to be back behind the microphone where I belong. It’ll be like coming home to my family.”
Play Radio’s managing director, Lee Moulsdale, said: “His unique style, warmth and personality will be a major asset. He’s been away too long”.
