'Pub' set up in back garden of Eastleigh home

INVESTIGATIONS are continuing today after police raided a makeshift pub set up in the garden of a Hampshire home.

Officers busted the venue in Guest Road, Eastleigh, where they found fully working beer pumps and used beer kegs in the back garden.

Neighbours alerted police to an illegal set-up after complaining about excessive noise and offensive language coming from those inside the property.

The Daily Echo understands that the home-made pub was set up by a former employee of a nearby pub, to lure customers away from his ex-employer.

Safer Neighbourhood teams from Eastleigh joined forces with Eastleigh Borough Council to execute the licensing warrant on October 1.

An inspection was made of the premises under the Licensing Act.

Officers spoke to those at the address but no arrests have yet been made, although several items were seized to help police with their continuing investigations.

Safer Streets Sergeant Georgina White said: “Upon entering the premises we found a substantial bar set up in the rear garden with fully working pumps and used beer kegs.”

Isn't it fantastic to see your value for money crime busters catching those vicious criminals huh?

The most heinous villains brought to justice.

Now the city is free of mickey mouse lighters and makeshift bars it will be a safer place to live. Who knows? It may soon be rid of illegally imported sweat shirts or Romanian welly boots next.

Eastleigh will soon be a crime free zone.

Good old dollops. Real value for money.

I'm assuming that you aren't still residing in this country, and therefore not paying Council Tax and contributing to Hants Police Authority Finlay? If so, I cannot really see where all your vitriol against the Police comes from?

Frankly, if someone was running an illegal pub next door to me, and kicking up a terrible noise and my children could hear shouting and swearing, I'd be pretty peed off too and want something done about it. If you read the article it involved the Safter Neighbourhood Team which is made of up from the Council and Police, and they entered the premises under the Licensing Act which was probably the quickest method, as you saw no-one has been arrested but at least the residents have been taken seriously, and the noise nuisance abated.

Dear bitter and twisted freemantle girl

You stated "I'm assuming that you aren't still residing in this country, and therefore not paying Council Tax and contributing to Hants Police Authority Finlay? If so, I cannot really see where all your vitriol against the Police comes from?"

I have a house in the New Forest which I pay Council Tax on and also an ongoing business that I pay taxes on and two vehicles that I pay taxes on. My house has been burgled twice I have had street slime damage my cars and verbally assaulted my wife and myself several times and not one single conviction.

When my house was burgled I even picked out the culprits picture and still the dollops did Jack.

I live in the US and work and currently live in Iowa but also have a house in California which was damaged in the fires there and subsequently looted - The Police caught the looters and they are now in jail and my belongings returned or replaced.

We were set apon one evening in Des Moines. The Police arrested the perpetrator's and one was jailed and deported and the other fined and jailed.

I live here under a proviso that I must show that I can leave the US hence I retain my house, taxes and British BS.

I suggest that you are one such dollop and it is understandable that you retort so but the facts remain that you have an
ineffective police force and a very expensive one to boot.

I live in a small town but Des Moines is the closest principal city to me but the area is vast with not many people to police as in around 12 - 15000 but they hit the bad guys hard and are very revered by slimey criminals.

I am on first name terms with the Police Chief and many officers too and genuinely like them. If someone here commits crimes they are hunted down and punished and some are even driven out.

As a recent posted correctly stated that because I am not sniffing the air of the Solent I dont deserve a say - However I do pay your taxes and am affected by the situation there and am not getting my value for money.

In a few more years I will become a permanent resident here and then its bye bye Britain forever.

You have run out of space, resources and hope

I think someone else referred to you as bitter and twisted, not me.... although your last post seems to have confirmed exactly that.

And yes I agree with you havemercy - good riddance and good luck with the US of A Finlay, they're very welcome to you and your vitriol. I very much doubt you are affected by the actions of a Safer Neighbourhood team, as 1) you are not in Eastleigh paying Council Tax and 2) it's a good use of resources for the people that were affected, I bet you'd soon be complaining if they were setting up business next door to you but frankly it would be them I felt sorry for ! As for your assertion that I'm a Police officer, that's just laughable. I'm a full time carer for my two sons who are disabled, and used to work at the University for 10 years before that. I have no reason to support the Police, other than that they do a very tough job under very difficult circumstances on both sides of the Atlantic.

Do we all have to be card-carrying Soton residents to join in with any web forum?

Some of us live here or maybe spread across the globe and merely wish to keep in touch as an ex-pat.

Wherever we go- there are good and bad points as far as quality of life.

Even many M.P.s are not raised in their own constituencies so what do we do with these interlopers?

Well, after half an hour of laying on the floor laughing out loud at how wrong the daily echo has got this wrong. I go to this so called illegal bar,and all it is is a few friends getting together on a thursday/friday night, watching tv in the garden and playing the xbox and generaly enjoying themselves, yes there is a bar in the garden...its a bloke thing, and so what!...when 15 police raided, there was about 5 guys playing a games consul, and it was noted to the police, that when they burst in shouting"police" they made one guy miss a penalty...lol...They did look slightly embarrassed by the whole farce, esp being told there was a key left in the gate....as for luring customers away from the local pub..what a load of made up nonsence to add spice to a dead story!

Not another prohibition breach bust called Operation Beergut, just a couple of dollops asking the 'lads' to quieten down.

Schmucks!

Thanks for the first hand information Steve.

The exchanges on this thread are more interesting than the story: why Finlay are you haunting this site and commenting on what is almost certainly an incompetently edited police press release concerning a badly run shebeen, when you must know as a sometime resident of the New Forest that the Echo’s coverage of the Southampton area is, at best, lazy and slipshod, and at the worst ... words fail all its readers.
Further, admit it, you aren’t living in Des Moines are you? I mean it’s a joke location, like Slough here in England. Not a place anyone takes seriously.
As for policing: having had dealings with the Californian police (polite, passable sense of humour, but not exactly the brightest), I’d take the Hampshire Constabulary every time. So would my sister, who is a lawyer in San Francisco. Indeed, she thinks the Met are superior.
As for crime Finlay: you’re going to come up with some improbable statistic that proves East L.A. is safer than the Cotswolds aren’t you? Forget it, we’ve all watched the Sopranos. “Does not reflect …” you cry. But it’s probably more accurate about the States than the Echo is about southern Hampshire.

Furthermore your sister ... Everyones a lawyer in SF and for LA or else a realtor. Secondly the Met are not Hampshire Plod.

Just to put your inquisitive little mind at rest why dont you email me at santaclaradevs@iowat

East LA is a hell hole well most of it and unique in its inter racial mix and the income per capita is the lowest in the whole of LA. It is a slum. Crime is a way of life for mere survival. However it does not compare to most other component parts that go to make up the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles
