SHE is the SingStar superstar.

A Southampton woman has taken to the stage in front of a celebrity-packed audience after Take That’s Gary Barlow crowned her the winner of a computer game singing competition.

Rebecca Barton was picked from five hopefuls by the lead singer of Britain’s biggest boy band after entering a competition through her PlayStation 3 SingStar video game.

After filming herself singing Take That’s hit song Could It Be Magic, the 26-year-old actuary, from Northam, uploaded the video from her PS3 to SingStar for a competition to launch the band’s own version of the game.

She was one of five finalists who went to London to meet the band at a celebrity launch party, where guests included model Kate Moss and singer Rachel Stevens.

She said: “When Gary read out my name it was fantastic. I then had to go on stage and sing again in front of about-400 people.”
