New Forest MP Dr Julian Lewis claims £11,000 in expenses

The newly released figures show that New Forest East Julian Lewis claimed more than £11,000 between May 2008 and May this year.

Dr Lewis regularly claimed more than £900 a month in mortgage interest.

In September 2008 he also claimed £245 for the cost of six months' electricity, plus £80 for telephone charges.

The claim form he submitted in October 2008 included £1,040 for service and maintenance costs. Two months later he sought £55 for telephone costs.

His January 2009 claim included £307 for home insurance.

The following month he claimed another £1,089 for service and maintenance costs, plus £149 for utilities.

In March this year Dr Lewis sought £374 for his 2009-2010 water rates, plus £1,146 for his annual council tax the following month. Another £1,089 claim for service and maintenance costs was lodged in April. His only claim in May was £539 in mortgage interest.

Unlike some other MPs he has not submitted any claims for food.
