To be honest the sea centre sounds better than the lido. Beach? Restaurant? Sports Arena? Sounds great!!! The lido had it's day and because of the good old English weather being unpredictable it doesn't attract enough visitors to warrant staying open. Adrian Evans must have a screw loose if he thinks it's worth investing money in a "loss maker". In a time where everyone is criticising where money is spent people don't want to see their money wasted instead they want to see sane decisions by councillors and being responsible where money is concerned.
Oh come on please, what difference does the name make at the end of the day? And besides, i can safely say that in 36+ years i have never known it to be called the Lido. Always has and always will be the Sea Water Baths....a bit like the 'Fusion Inn' being the Olde English."

The town’s sea water baths remained shut last summer following a damning health and safety report - but now councillors have said they must focus on reopening the lido in time for this summer.

County councillor Adrian Evans told a meeting of Lymington Town Council’s amenities committee the sea water baths was a “jewel” that needed to be reopened.

He said: “It is key to me that while it is fine to consider suggestions for the future we must focus on getting the baths reopened this year.

“I realise it is a loss maker but so are the sporting facilities at Woodside – please work with me in reinstating this jewel.”

As previously reported, Lymington Community Foundation have put forward plans to turn the sea water baths into a “sea centre” complete with an artificial beach, open air restaurant and water sports arena.
