COUNCIL bosses have pledged to do all they can reopen an historic 19th century lido in Lymington.
The town’s sea water baths remained shut last summer following a damning health and safety report - but now councillors have said they must focus on reopening the lido in time for this summer.
County councillor Adrian Evans told a meeting of Lymington Town Council’s amenities committee the sea water baths was a “jewel” that needed to be reopened.
He said: “It is key to me that while it is fine to consider suggestions for the future we must focus on getting the baths reopened this year.
“I realise it is a loss maker but so are the sporting facilities at Woodside – please work with me in reinstating this jewel.”
As previously reported, Lymington Community Foundation have put forward plans to turn the sea water baths into a “sea centre” complete with an artificial beach, open air restaurant and water sports arena.
