Police launch arson inquiry after bin blaze

POLICE are investigating after an arsonist set fire to a bin shed in a block of flats in Southampton.

It is the fifth time in just two months that fire crews have been called out to addresses in Lydgate Road, Thornhill, to deal with similar blazes.

Each of the incidents has happened in the early hours of the morning, just yards from Hightown Fire Station in Bursledon Road.

Although no serious damage has been caused by the fires, in self-contained refuse areas, fire chiefs are worried they could escalate to other areas and put lives at risk.

The latest arson attack happened at about 4am yesterday.
