Man mugged at knifepoint in city centre


A KNIFE-WIELDING mugger attacked a man on a quiet footpath in Winchester city centre.

The 20-year-old victim was walking along a path in Hyde when he saw a man with his back turned.

As he walked past, he saw the man was holding a 2in short-bladed knife.

The mugger threatened him and the victim surrendered his wallet containing £60 and his Nokia mobile phone.

The attack happened on the ‘zig-zag’ path between Marston Gate and Hyde Abbey Road on Monday at about 11.30am.

The mugger is described as white, aged about 25, 6ft 2in and wearing a brown knee-length waterproof hooded jacket with a fur lining around the hood, and black trainers.
