A SOUTHAMPTON MP has called on energy suppliers to give customers more advice on making their homes more efficient.
Dr has inserted an amendment calling for companAlan Whiteheadies to take more responsibility for helping poorer customers, into the Government’s Energy Bill, which is looking to reduce the UK’s carbon emissions from generating electricity.
The MP for Southampton Test has asked that the benefits energy companies are required to give to poor customers also includes non-financial benefits such as advice and home improvements including insulation.
Dr Whitehead was told in the House of Commons that the Bill would be checked to see if non-financial benefits were included and the amendment would be made if necessary.
He said: “I am delighted that the Minister has ensured that my amendment will be made to the Energy Bill if necessary. It is vital that the law provides for the full range of measures to help those in fuel poverty, both financial and non-financial.”
The Energy Bill has now passed all its House of Commons stages and has entered the House of Lords.
It also includes details for the creation of four Carbon Capture and Storage plants, which harness the emissions from coal and oil-fired power stations.

What about all the office users who leave their photocopier, pc, monitor, printer etc on over night? and even over their lunch break?

the biggest way people to save money is to switch their massive TV's and all other appliances off when not needed. Perhaps with all the hot air Dr Whitehead generates he can help with their heating too.
