THEY are the silent heroes changing the lives of thousands of children every year.
Providing shelter for children in the greatest of need all across Southampton foster mums were yesterday recognised for their outstanding contribution to childcare.
About 150 foster carers were presented with a bouquet of flowers ahead of Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Having fostered more than 200-children in 30-years of fostering Gill White received a special presentation from Southampton City Council chief executive Brad Roynon, pictured.
“I wanted to make a difference in children’s lives. To be part of that support and to help them reach their full potential,” said Gill, 54.
“Some children will return home, sometimes I’ll be working with adopters it’s a lovely feeling. It’s that warm feeling inside you just feel good for doing it.”
Lordswood resident Gill has two grown up children Lee and Nikki as well as two adopted children Sophie and Russell.
