Jetskier rescued off Standswood Bay in the Solent

A STRANDED jetskier had to be rescued from the Solent this morning.

The man, in his forties, was trying to tow his broken down jetski to the beach at Standswood Bay but began to struggle as exhaustion and hypothermia set it.

The RNLI Calshot's inshore lifeboat was launched and the crew was able to pluck him from the water and take him to the shore.

He received first aid treatment back at the lifeboat station before being taken to Southampton General Hospital.

Inshore lifeboat helmsman Mark Laughlin said: "This gentleman was very lucky that we were able to reach him so quickly, as he had already been in the water for 20 minutes. Much longer and the outcome could have been very different."

good to see the echo made an effort to mention the ambulance service, that a helicopter was sent with a basics doctor on board and an ambulance to help with this mans recovery.

With such a well thought out, intelligent comment, I wonder how much you pay toward the care that you so obviously need.

Care in the community can be rather expensive
