Fee protest at Heroes event

HAMPSHIRE horse-owners are boycotting a Help for Heroes event in protest at the £175 entry fee being used to cover costs.

They have pulled out of the sponsored Horses for Heroes ride-and-drive day at Royal Windsor Great Park because the money – expected to total more than £350,000 – will go on administration instead of helping soldiers.

Valentine Cadell, from Burley in the New Forest, is among those who has withdrawn from the event.

She said: “This is a charity and the heroes could do with every penny.”

Suzanne Kemp, of Bull Hill, near Lymington, has also decided not to take part. “Sadly, the organisation behind this has moved the goalposts too many times,” she said.

The event is being staged by the Hpower Group, which says it hopes to raise £1m for Help for Heroes.

A spokesman said the £175 was mainly to cover health and safety costs.

Administration and management fees imposed by charities are a scam.

Just check out for yourself any major charities books and you will find the percentage creamed off from donations to be an obscene amount ( in some cases, over 70% of that donated ).

This generously-given dosh feathers the nests of the managers, at the expense of the people who really need the help.

Shameful!

Help for Heroes only take three pence in every pound donated for administration costs. Most of the work is done by volunteers. Hpower Group are organising this event to raise money for Help for Heroes so they are responsible for the entry fees.

agree with you clausentum, but you find that most charities only give 1p out of every 10p colletted, even your poppy appeal is the same. whitch i find is totally wrong.
your managers from big business join charities boards for the money and for the fast track of getting a tittle, and when they do get a tittle they get even more money from those charities.
there are very few charities where the management get nothing and when you check those up, you find that there is not one big business manager or any person with a tittle amongst them

once again a charity is being hit by a group that purports to support it but in fact are probably making a fast buck and a name. They will probably be using volunteers to assist so no cost there they will realy on donations so no cost there the park was probably loaned free for the day so no cost there yet after all that almost all the entry fee's goes on costs. The law should state that at least 75% goes to the nominated charity or you cannot stage the event in there registered name.

Does anyone have a tittle for sale?

I have been to every car-boot sale in Hants, and I can't find one worth buying.

I am particularly interested in the post-war southern variety, preferably one careful owner.

I think your cat went out on Tuesday searching for just such a tittle. Had no luck I understand, and returned on Saturday.
Was that while you were in Asda at Totton looking at brown gappy smiles?

good post and i agree there should be a law to say at least 75% or more should go to the charity.
people like derek only want to protect a system that is totally wrong because its the wealthy that gain and not the people who really need it.

Tittle-tattler . . . drumming up an unverifiable yarn on the back of a cat that cannot comment on it's personal exploits.

I used to work for a charity and I was appalled to see how much of the money went on wages and the rest seemed to be frittered away leaving only a fraction to actually do the job. One project I worked on was in an area where the Community Church also had a project. They relied on volunteers and put more money in directly making us look like the chumps were rightly were. Even staff in charity shops get paid now, charity has become too much like a business.

" . . . charity has become too much like a business."

So has Christianity.

Just below the Vatican's Basilica's Dome and about 150 feet above ground, out of sight of pilgrims/tourists in the square below, is a shop selling coffee, cakes, postcards and postage stamps.

Not interested in the slightest but come to think of it if you paid something to charity every time you mangled the language, the charity in receipt would be rolling in money.
