Firefighters battling a blaze on a Hampshire industrial estate have got the fire under control.

More than 60 firefighters were at the scene of the incident in Fareham this morning fighting a blaze at an industrial unit.

Crews arrived shortly after 3.15am to find the roof of the building, which contained offices, well alight.

Six fire appliances were sent to the blaze in Wallington Way including two fire appliances from Cosham Fire Station, two fire appliances from Fareham, and one fire appliance from Wickham and an appliance from Portchester.

The Incident Command Unit, an area platform ladder and 3 water carriers are also in attendance.

The two storey building is split into offices and used by a number of small businesses. Officer in charge of the incident , Group Manager Dan Tasker said “The internal structure of the building and poor water supplies at the location hampered firefighting operations.

“However, crews have done a great job in bringing the blaze control and are continuing to fight the fire.”
