Carving knife attack in Southampton

A MAN is in hospital after being stabbed in a daylight attack by a man brandishing a carving knife.

The 21-year-old victim, who is Asian, was walking along Nichols Road in Southampton when he saw a man approaching him holding the weapon with a six-inch blade.

He turned to run but was knifed completely through his arm. He was taken to hospital where he is still being treated this morning.

The attack, in the Newtown/Nicholstown area of the city, happened around 2pm yesterday. The knifeman was a white man who is thought to have then fled the scene.

Detectives are investigating the stabbing and are urging people to come forward who may have information or might have witnessed the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bitterne CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
