A HAMPSHIRE husband and wife have been named slimming couple of the year after losing 15stone between them.
Sparked into taking action after they were humiliated on a flight, Alan and Jan Coupe from Fareham are now the lightest they have been since they married 30 years ago.
The stone-dropping duo were announced as Slimming World’s Couple of the Year 2010, having impressed judges with their dedication to weight-loss over the last four years.
Alan, 55, who at his heaviest weighed in at 20st 10lbs, has lost 8st and his wife Jan, 51, who weighed 18st 3lbs, has lost 7st 10lbs.
The couple, who run Wisteria House Bed and Breakfast in Mays Lane, Stubbington, decided to shed the flab after they were humiliated when they were forced to sit apart on a plane because of their size.
Jan said: “Losing weight has saved our lives and given us our lives back at the same time.”
