A NEGLECTED horse has been found abandoned in a Hampshire field.
The Bay Mare - believed to have been around 10 to 14 years old and about 15 hands high - was discovered in a Marchwood field on Saturday.
Due to the animal's poor state of health, the RSPCA took the decision to put the horse down.
Police are now attempting to trace the owner.
Police Equine Liaison Officer, PC Alison Tilbury said: “This horse was in a very distressed state and it was unable to stand. "There was significant evidence to show that the horse had been severely neglected and terminating its life was the only viable option open to us.
"It is now important that we trace the owner to inform them and if necessary, provide them with suitable advice. We would therefore urge them or anyone who knows who they might be, to contact us.”
Information can be given by phoning PC Tilbury at Hythe police station on 101 or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The owners should be traced and informed how to look after horses and then prosecuted for neglect and cruelty for abandoning the horse.

Oops sorry I thought he had been rescued!! Anyway, Shergar had a white face and won the Derby at Epsom by 10 lengths - ridden by Walter Swinburn, after coming arond Tattenham Corner like an express train. He also won the Chester Vase a few weeks earlier in similar fashion. See, I do know my horses! Poor horsey ....

You obviously took time to read that information. What a pity that, in your haste to make such a stupid comment, you did not take time to read the article about the neglected horse, that had to be put down. Not very 'Brite' with no Spark of intelligence. Must do better!
