THE Scottish giant that is Fish looked even larger as he trod the small stage at The Brook.
The charismatic singer was in town to showcase material from his forthcoming album Field of Crows - his eighth solo release since splitting from Marillion 16 years ago.
But he will forever be associated with that band, and no song went down better with a capacity audience than Market Square Heroes. We had to wait until the encore for MSH - the first Marillion song of the night - and it completed a superb medley after Fish, wearing his Scottish football shirt, had belted out Lucky and Eternal Exile. Fish is taking a sabbatical from writing to concentrate on his acting career, and admits he doesn't know when he will tour as a solo act again. He will be sadly missed.
Last night's support, Never the Bride, also went down well, with Nikki Lambourn proving again her voices deserves a wider rock audience.
