BRIAN Le Boutillier's injury hit side defied the odds and an aggressive and skillful home side to come away from Fawcett Fields with a maximum on Saturday.

The match was billed as being between two sides looking for a fourth position finish but with Lions being without Callum Earl, Justin Bennett, Phil Andrews, Mario Nurse and long term injured Alan Kennedy, it looked a daunting task.

At Blackfield a scrappy Danny Sullivan goal just before half-time was all that Andover had to show for their trip on Tuesday night.

It was the first time in their Wessex League history that the Lions had failed to beat Blackfield and in truth with a depleted squad and with the home side struggling at the bottom, it was always on the cards.
