TWO Waterside women are preparing for the challenge of a life-time.
Karen Robertson and Angie Pilkington are taking part in the Iceland Trek, a 100km hike across barren terrain.
They hope to raise at least £4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Karen, 45, of Hythe, and Angie, 41, of Holbury, are among 60 people from all over the UK who will make the nine-day adventure in July.
Karen, a receptionist at Calshot Activities Centre, said: "It's a personal challenge that will involve living under canvas and having to put up with very basic living conditions.
"However, I'm looking forward to the camaraderie that will develop among the walkers - and Macmillan Cancer Relief is a very worthy cause."
Fundraising events organised by the women include a line dance at St Mary Magdalene Church Hall, New Milton, on March 22.
