A GRANDMOTHER who suffered terrifying burns to her face after drain cleaner exploded from her kitchen sink is to return to hospital for more tests.
Sheila Insch, from Netley Abbey, is to return to the specialist burns unit at Salisbury Odstock Hospital to see if the drain cleaner caused permanent damage to her face. She will also have checks on her left eye. As reported in the Daily Echo, Sheila poured two drops of Extreme Green’s Dr Drain into her kitchen sink only to be scorched with toxic chemicals which blasted from the drain seconds later.
She was rushed to Southampton General Hospital before being transferred to Salisbury where she stayed for three days. Doctors told her if she had kept her eyes open or failed to keep the burns wet she would have lost her sight, suffered internal injuries and may have been scarred for life.
Sheila’s son, Jason Insch, said they were still waiting for answers from Extreme Green Limited. Following the report of Sheila’s terrifying experience in Saturday’s Daily Echo, the family said they have seen their story go around the globe on the Internet.
