A NEW deputy Chief Constable for Hampshire has been appointed.

Following the departure of Simon Cole, Andy Marsh has now taken up the job.

Mr Marsh, an Assistant Chief Constable of Avon and Somerset Police, was appointed following a selection process by Hampshire Police Authority yesterday.

Born in Liverpool, Mr Marsh started his career with Avon and Somerset before transferring to Wiltshire Police as ACC in 2007, and returning to his former force in 2009.

A date for DCC Marsh to commence his new role will be confirmed shortly.

He currently lives in Somerset with his wife and two daughters. He is a keen football supporter and an accomplished rower, who represents the British Police rowing team.
