Alcohol and drugs mix

A SOUTHAMPTON man found dead in his friend’s flat died after drinking large amounts of alcohol after taking drugs, an inquest heard.

Richard Stone, 27, was sleeping on a sofa in St Mary Street when he was found dead.

Southampton Coroner’s Court heard how Mr Stone had a history of drug abuse and a post-mortem revealed he had recently taken heroin and methadone. The inquest heard how the drugs mixed with a large quantity of alcohol forced his body to shut down.

Coroner Keith Wiseman recorded a verdict of death from abuse of drugs.
