JUDGING has begun in this year’s Southampton in Bloom competition.
Judges and committee members gathered to compare notes on the 186 entries aiming to bring a splash of colour to the city.
The recent dry spell has been bad news for gardeners though and a number of entries have been removed this year because of parched lawns and wilting plants.
Southampton in Bloom co-ordinator Hilary Bradley said: “We will be making allowances this year as we had a harsh winter and a cold spring, and for the considerate conservation of water.”
