PLANS for a security dog training centre in a Hampshire village have been thrown out after fears dangerous dogs could escape.
Southampton-based Cobra Security wanted to build the centre in Nursling, which would include six dog kennels with external runs, a grooming room, a classroom, an equipment store, and nine parking spaces.
But Test Valley planners rejected the plans after objections from local residents, the parish council and a nearby retirement village.
They said the building, on land at The Paddocks, in Upton Lane, would not have fitted in with the surrounding countryside. And they feared that it would become a hazard to local residents, dog walkers and horse riders if a dangerous dog were to escape.
The objectors were also worried the dogs would create too much noise, affecting the quality of life of elderly residents of Grove Place, a residential village for the elderly.
Other objections included an increase in traffic in the area.
Nursling Parish Council was also concerned walkers would put themselves in danger by using the main road to avoid the dog centre.
Sean Knowlson, boss of Cobra Security, said he was considering submitting revised plans.
