MP and leader back PO petition

ANDOVER MP Sir George Young and Ian Carr, leader of Test Valley Borough Council, have both pledged their support for the campaign to save the Post Office at One-Stop in Charlton.

"We both live nearby and are regular visitors to One-Stop," said Sir George.

"The Post Office is very important, not just for residents of Charlton, but for the nearby villages - the Pentons, Hatherden, Wildhern, Clanville and Appleshaw.

He said there was enormous local concern that the plans put forward by Tesco did not appear to make provision for the retention of the Post Office.

"I have written to Terence Leahy, the chief executive, asking for an assurance that the Post Office will be retained," he said.
