UFO spotted over the New Forest

IT was like a scene from the latest Hollywood science fiction film – a mysterious and unidentifiable object seen flashing and darting across the Hampshire night sky.

As Deano Price, 30, lit a cigarette in the back garden of his dad’s Lyndhurst home, something strange and alien caught his eye.

When he looked up to see what it was he was shocked to find a bright white light zipping across the horizon.

It comes as the latest comedy sci-fi adventure film Paul has filled cinemas across the south. The hit film follows two sci-fi geeks Simon Pegg and Nick Frost on a pilgrimage to America’s UFO heartland where they accidentally meet funny alien Paul.

“I knew straight away it wasn’t normal,” said dad of one Deano.

“I dropped my cigarette and ran inside to phone my brother in Totton to see if he could see it too.

“When he said he could I ran back outside to see if it was still there.”

As soon as Deano first spotted the UFO he managed to capture its high-speed movements on his mobile phone.

The grainy footage shows a small white dot moving quickly across the frame before disappearing and then reappearing again.

“It started off as a white light but then turned red for a couple of minutes before going back to white again,” said Deano.

“It was moving backwards and forwards but not really up and down. I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

Deano posted the video on the Internet where other people claimed to have seen the mysterious object as far away as Hythe and Salisbury.

One woman said: “I saw it too when I was driving home through the forest. Lots of cars were parked up and people were watching it.

“It was flashing white and red, hovering then darting up and down and left and right.”

Another man said: “It was over in Salisbury too. It was white and was buzzing all over the place. It’s definitely not a comet or a drone.”

A spokesperson from Southampton airport said: “It was business as usual at the airport that night so we can’t shed any light on the sightings.”

But Deano is adamant it was not a plane.

“It definitely wasn’t a plane. I do believe in aliens — we can’t be the only thing out there. The New Forest is known as a bit of a hotspot for things like this but it’s definitely the weirdest thing I have ever seen,” he said.

No doubt it is the Army doing their helicopter training.
Get them over the Hampton Ridge area in the New Forest all times of day and night, flying up to a 500 metres, then dropping down to 30 metres above the ground, moving sideways, etc etc,and all done over SSSi, SPI, and SAC land,it is a disgrace.

Good to see the Echo's censor objects to anyone wondering why an advanced technological intelligence that shows no desire to contact earthlings then puts little lights on the side of its craft.

Looks just like an anti collision strobe on a helo viewed with a small hand held camera to me, so maybe...?
But of course it couldn't be a helicopter because the witness says that it was not an aeroplane.
Unidentified means YOU don't know what it is!

One is a science fiction action film which will not be released until next year.
One is a science fiction comedy which has just been released.

The aliens probably took one look at Lyndhurst, Totton, Salisbury and thought

"it's life Jim, but not as we know it"

"UFOs" are often seen in the western part of Hampshire.... no one has a clue what they are , much more interesting is what happened near Winchester in the 70s ( google " joyce bowles pratt " ) , hundreds of people reported a UFO that night over southampton.

Nowhere near as good as the one i saw over St catherine`s hill back in 1992.My Brother came home one evening and said he had been watching this light in the sky so i went outside and saw it.It was a single horizontal beam of white light eminating from a large object that was rotating about 1000ft up in the sky,it was dark so i could not see the actual shape of the object,it made no noise. It was not a helicopter or a plane ( iv`e been to enough airshows to know what most sound like) and it was close enough to have been heared if it was.
The object stayed in one place, just hovering with no left, right,up or down movements,i think i watched it for about 30 mins before i got bored and went indoors, to me this was certainly one Unidentified Flying Object.

Hmm had they considered that it was a) a real space craft and b) that the International Space Station was on a trajectory over the south in the past few days?
.
Anyone can see a real spaceship, just look at the NASA website and it tells you when it will fly past next.
.
If we do get "visitors" it will be very much like our early efforts. Unmanned, unlit and too small to see, just to take basic images on a fly-by. Our radio signals have reached out several million light years into the galaxy, but we have yet to hear one back. It suggests there is no intelligent, technologically capable life near us.
