THEY are 350 of the motoring world’s best creations and are set to cause auction frenzy.

From Starsky and Hutch’s bright red Ford Gran Torino and the black Cadillac from gangster classic The Godfather, to American pick-ups and vintage Chryslers – these cars span decades of motoring history.

Now they are going under the hammer and could be the envy of your friends for an estimated £2,000 to £3,000 – but they might look a bit lost on a driveway.

The stunning die-cast models are only one-eighteenth of the real cars’ size, but feature the same leather seats, windscreen wipers and windows.

The mystery private collector, who does not want to be named, is thought to have spent more than 20 years amassing the cars, which come from all over the world.

Film buffs will be drawn to the scaled-down versions of cars that have appeared on TV and the big screen in the likes of Happy Days, James Bond films and The Fast and the Furious. The most expensive model is an unusual Norev 1946 car with a caravan which it is thought could fetch £80.

Prospect Auction Rooms, of Prospect Road, New Alresford, will sell the cars in 100 lots today.

Valuer Helen Janes said: “The collector must have been collecting for 20 or 30 years and now he is offering them for sale.

“We don’t see a collection like this very often. We are hoping it will cause a lot of excitement.

“Maybe it will give someone the chance to own these wonderful cars, even if in miniature form, or maybe someone who already has one of the cars will want the model too.”

n The auction starts at 1pm after viewing from 11am.
