Jobseeker took own life (From This is Hampshire)

I bloody knew this sort of thing was going to happen. Kicking thousands of genuinely mentally ill people off benefit due to using the **** medical tests they currently use was bound to cause suicides like these.
I know how Paul felt and I sadly know he very likely won't be the last. RIP Paul!

He isn't going to be the last. I myself am getting prepared. since April of last year I've had no monies other than my Mid Rate DLA. Every month I've had do endure going 10 days without any food. On the 3rd of May I received a letter that my new benefit ESA would be put into the bank the result of that letter I used this months DLA to try catch up with debts that had been occuring leaving myself with no monies what so ever in expectation of those monies being placed into my bank account. I now went a considerable time since the 3rd of May without any food and in agonising stomach pains once again. This Coalition government and all that support it now can go to hell. Every day through the Iraq war it was reported across the media at the shocking British lives being lost due to that illegal war I remember it climbing to 100. British government has declared war on it's own people and we die in silence. And yes authoritive figures do know of my situation last November I ended up in hospital due to taking an overdose. Got no help whatsoever, yesterday I highlighted with another proffesional person my situation today I'm left still with no food no direction in which to turn. This is Geneside through the back door by this government. It's to late now for myself but I plead with the British public take action now before it becomes a member of your own family.

If he means 10 days without money I wouldn't be remotely surprised, given the incompetence of the DWP. I doubt he actually means he's gone without food for 10 days.

Be grateful you say! I worked all my days paying into the system until 3 years ago of which i was in a serious work related accident. Wake up people. 14 months on average 10 days without food each and every month due to Atos assessments. 2 people in Edinburgh. 3 in Dundee have taken there life's. Thats just one's that have been highlighted in papers. How many more that has been without report???

You've completely missed the point. If it wasn't for the Lib Dems part of this coalition your situation would be worse. Target your anger at the Tories, not the coalition.

I am sad to hear about this young man . Its a real loss and I am moved by it . Not least because people like Paul , affected by mental health issues, can be tipped into crisis by the pressures to adjust to a society that is all too often expecting just too much from damaged people . Sadly this is a story I hear across the years and it highlights a society that too easily can erase care and help for some that truly need it . Independance, whether you're currently receiving mental health support or not, please consider talking to a professional and let them know, even if you've told them before, that you feel suicidal. There's nothing to be gained by another tragedy. The benefits system does currently still have some human beings working for it, even if their managers force government targets on them.
As for other people who've commented here: criticising Independance isn't helping matters, and keeping safe and healthy is a bit more high priority than taking part in surveys.
