ACTRESS Dulcie Gray, who was one of the stars of Howard's Way - the River Hamble based Dallas-By-Sea TV blockbuster - has died.
She was 95 and had been suffering from bronchial pneumonia.
Gray, who played the role of Kate Harvey, became one of the best loved characters of the hit BBC One series which was set in Bursledon.
Running from 1985 to 1990, the series captured the mood of the eighties when yuppies and materialism was riding on the crest of the wave.
Every Sunday millions of viewers were kept on the edge of their seats as they watched the drama of power games being played out on the up market yachting shores of the River Hamble.
Dulcie Gray played the occasionally fearsome and irascible mother of ruthless business woman Jan Howard.
Gray regularly appeared on stage, television and film opposite her actor husband, the late Michael Denison.
He also appeared in Howard's Way as Admiral Redfern.
Gray last appeared on screen in 2000 in an episode of BBC drama Doctors.

Howards Way looks really dated now, especially the poorly filmed studio shots. Good for spotting parts of Southampton though.
