THE biggest change to television in a generation began today, as analogue signals were turned off in much of Andover and digital TV boosted to reach all areas.
The start of the TV switchover means that thousands of viewers in digital blackspots now can get BBC Freeview channels for the first time, while picture quality will improve for many existing viewers.
Homes already watching Freeview will need to retune their televisions and boxes in order to regain their BBC services, which are missing this morning.
For anyone who needs help following the switchover, Digital UK, the leading body, is running a help point today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) at The Blue Onion Café, 73 High Street, Andover.
