Fallen branches close Kempshott road
6:36pm Friday 8th June 2012 in News By Chris Gregory
Engineers closed Pack Lane to clear the debris
FALLEN branches have caused the closure of a main road in Basingstoke.
Two branches fell today from the same tree in Pack Lane, Kempshott, with the second branch landing on an overhead electricity wire.
Engineers have closed the road from the Fiveways junction to Coniston Road so they can remove the branches.
The first branch fell this morning, causing police officers to close part of the road to traffic. A second branch fell at 2.30pm, covering most of the road and resting on the electricity wire.
No-one was injured in the incident and no power outages have been reported.

Pack Lane is a residential street in the suburb of a big town - are the Gazette sure the overhead line was an 'electricity wire'? Phone lines surely.
And am I alone in cringing at the Americanism "power outages"?
Apart from that Keep Calm and Carry on Reporting.

Perhaps the hump loving, selfish residents of Pack Lane should be forced to keep their trees in good order.
