Delays on M3 after flood
8:57am Tuesday 12th June 2012 in News By Chris Gregory
FLOODING on the M3 has led to long tailbacks for this morning’s rush hour traffic.
Two lanes of the southbound carriageway have closed between Fleet Services and junction five at Hook due to flooding from a blocked drain in the central reservation.
By 8am today, the queues were four miles long and delays of 90 minutes were reported.
Elsewhere, one lane of each carriageway of the A33, between the Crockford Lane roundabout and Binfields Roundabout, has been re-opened after firefighters pumped out some of the floodwater earlier this morning.
Milkingpen Lane, Old Basing, remains impassable due to deep flood water under a railway bridge, Oakley Lane, Oakley is passable with care and temporary traffic lights are in place at Pit Hall Farm on the A339 Basingstoke to Newbury road.
Other problem areas include Gresley Road, Pack Lane between Kempshott and Oakley, the Swing Swang Lane roundabout and the Basing View slip road off Churchill Way East.
Sections of Eastrop Park remained closed due to flooding around the boating lakes, and the footbridge between Eastrop Park and Basing View has been closed as a precaution.

Nobody had to close them, they just closed on their own - miraculous! We need more roads like this! What about: roads which shred the tyres off vehicles if the driver is on the phone; roads which divert speeders up a launch ramp and into a pond; or, best of all, roads which repair themselves overnight?
I admire the council's association with the divine - "We command that the pools in Eastrop Park shall be re-filled,' quoth Basingstoke Council, and lo, from the heavens came water.
