WHITCHURCH centre ground to a halt on Saturday, 1 September as the carnival came to town.

The small, but well attended, procession paraded through town from Ardglen Industrial Estate and finished up at Testbourne Community School, where a fun packed and compact fete took place.

Attractions at the fete included a bouncy castle, ferris wheel, craft stalls, the Overton Black Arrows, a bar and a burger tent.

Organised by the Whitchurch Festival Association, the carnival, held over from July because of poor weather, was organised over just a few weeks.

Organiser Rob Dunlop said: “This year and last year we had to postpone the procession due to bad weather. Everybody wanted to see something and we didn’t want to go two years without one to keep it alive.

“It was a nice and relaxing event that faded into the evening.”

The next event lined up by the Whitchurch Festival Association will be a visit from Happy’s Circus on Sunday, 30 September.
