FANTASTIC fundraisers will march around Basingstoke tomorrow in the fourth St Michael’s Hospice Midnight Walk.

For the first time, this year’s event is open to men and children, as well as women.

A new, 8.5-mile course will see the walkers leave Porchester Square, in Festival Place , at midnight on Saturday. They will go through Kempshott and Hatch Warren before returning to the town centre.

Places booked in advance cost £16 for adults and £8 for children aged between 11 and 17, and there is a special family rate of £40. Those registering on the night will pay £20 per adult and £8 per child.

Iain Cameron, director of income generation at the hospice, said: “The event is a vital fundraiser for the hospice, generating £53,000 in 2011.

“The feedback we have received from last year meant we have made the change this year to open the event up to men, women and children between 11 and 17, giving it a real family feel whilst hopefully retaining the amazing atmosphere witnessed in previous years.”

Registration will open at 10.30pm inside Festival Place, with a warm-up starting at 11.45pm. Walkers who complete the course will receive a medal and a celebration breakfast.
