FIRE safety was the key message at station’s open day.
Firefighters from Hartley Wintney opened the doors of the station in Brew House Lane to members of the public at an annual event aimed at raising awareness.
Around 600 people attended throughout the day, watching demonstrations including road traffic collision exercises and an animal rescue.
Search and rescue dogs Shelley and Byron proved popular with the crowds, as did the various fire engines on show for members of the public to look inside.
Dave Bartlett, officer in charge at the station which has 14 retained fire fighters, said: “We’ve been giving general fire safety advice to get the message across; it’s about education and safety. It’s been a thoroughly enjoyable day and well attended with lots of families and children.
“All the fire fighters have been involved and there have also been crews from Basingstoke, Rushmoor and Yateley.”
