Thousands of Winchester residents suffer power cut Thousands of Winchester residents suffer power cut

THOUSANDS of Winchester residents were hit by a power cut this morning (sept 24).

Around 2,000 properties were blacked out from the city centre to Kings Worthy at around 10am.

A spokesman for Southern Electric (SSE) said the outage happened after a contractor damaged a power cable in Gordon Road, Hyde.

She said: “We are aware of the power outage and would like to apologise to the 2,000 customers affected by it and we are doing everything we can to restore power.”

It came just days after SSE completed cable improvements in Springvale Road, Kings Worthy, in response to a series of power cuts there earlier this year.
