OLDER residents in Andover can make use of drop-in sessions today (Monday) to mark an international awareness day.
The town’s Age UK and the Older People’s Forum will recognise International Day for Older People with a series of events.
These will include an opportunity to know more about the county’s planned strategy for the health and wellbeing of its residents.
At 10am, there will be a coffee morning in Upper Guildhall, with a presentation at 12.30pm at the Rendezvous, in Union Street, by Samantha Hudson from Hampshire County Council.
There will also be coffee and cake at the Rendezvous from 2.45pm and another chance to find out about the draft strategy, which covers aspects of wellbeing for all ages and is open for consultation until 5 October.
Haydn Watkins, from the Older People’s Forum, said: “Local people have valuable ideas about how they can be helped to stay well and independent.
They can also offer opinions about the treatment and support they might need now and in the future.
“These events give them and their families an extra opportunity to feed back to the NHS and the county council.”
