Jewellery stolen during burglary
12:05pm Thursday 27th September 2012 in News
JEWELLERY that had been in a family for more than half a century was stolen from an Andover home while the owners were on holiday.
The house in Wolversdene Road was burgled between 4am on Sunday, 23 September and 5pm on Monday, 24 September.
The offenders stole an Acer laptop and jewellery, including items of sentimental value. Pc Dave Hindle, from Andover police station, said: “I would like to hear from anybody who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area of Wolversdene Road on Sunday, September 22 or Monday, September 23.
“I’d also like to take this opportunity to offer some advice to homeowners to help them keep their properties safe. “If you are going away from your property for an extended period, try to make your home look occupied - cancel milk and newspaper deliveries, get a friend or neighbour to collect your post and draw your curtains and use timer switches to turn the lights on in the evening.”
Anyone with information about the incident should contact Pc Hindle at Winchester police station by phoning 101 or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
