Commuters to lose last all-day free car park in Winchester
WINCHESTER civic chiefs are to end one of the last big free all-day parking spots in the city.
The 32-space car park on Hillier Way, Abbotts Barton, has been used by commuters for years.
But now the city council is to introduce waiting restrictions in the car park and at various spots along Hillier Way near the rugby club. The maximum stay will be three hours with no return within six hours.
The council is also considering residents-only parking throughout Abbotts Barton to clampdown on the ‘park and walk’ commuters.
The changes was approved by the traffic and parking committee.

1)The comment was relevant to the places commuters park for free in Winchester (as was the previous poster's).
2) Re. St Catherine's Hill and its car park not being in Winchester: take a look at the map. It's as near to the centre, or nearer, than many far more built up parts of the town.....and, of course, it's next to the park and ride.
