South Ham man slapped partner while holding a pair of scissors

A MAN slapped his partner while holding a pair of scissors, a court heard.
Raimondas Limoninas, of Western Way, South Ham, appeared at North Hampshire Magistrates’ court in Winchester for sentence having pleaded guilty to an assault by beating against Neringa Kuodyte.
The court heard the attack took place at Miss Kuodyte’s house in Ballard Close, South Ham, on August 4 this year, after Limoninas had been drinking.
Dan O’Neill, prosecuting, said: “He does assault her downstairs and in the process has caused her a slight cut to her neck because he was holding a pair of scissors at the time.
“Miss Kuodyte said she pushed him away and it was then he tried to kick her.
“She then describes struggling with him and he then dropped the scissors.”
He added the assault was a slap rather than a punch, and that Limoninas had been trying to get some car keys from his partner’s handbag.
The court heard that the victim’s 10-year-old daughter was upstairs at the time of the attack and pleaded to one of the victim’s friends, who was staying for the night, to call the police.
Limoninas, who is from Lithuania, defended himself in court and spoke to the magistrates through an interpreter.
He said: “I would like to say that I’m very sorry for my behaviour.
“I would appreciate it if you could give me a lighter sentence, and I’m very sorry.”
Presiding magistrate Brenda Thompson sentenced Limoninas to a 12-month community order with 120 hours unpaid work and £85 costs.
