Work to start tonight on A303 bridges
5:50pm Monday 1st October 2012 in News By Gazette reporter
The project will start on two bridges on the A303 to the west of Andover, which will be resurfaced. These are the Kimpton Quarley bridge over the junction where the A303 meets Wiremead Lane near Thruxton, and Thruxton Hill bridge, on approach to the A303 junction with the A338, for Salisbury.
The third structure to be resurfaced will be the main bridge at the Picket Twenty interchange, where the A303 meets the A3093 to the east of Andover.
All work is being carried out overnight and all restrictions will be removed outside working hours.
Work on the first two bridges will be carried out from tonight until Thursday, October 12 (not at weekends) with a 40mph speed limit on approach to the roadworks and a convoy system in place past the work site itself.
Work at the Picket Twenty interchange will begin on Monday, October 15 for five nights, and will require various overnight closures of parts of the A303 over the interchange, for which clearly signed diversion routes will be in place.
All overnight restrictions will typically be in place between 10pm and 5.30am each night. Weather permitting, the work will be completed overnight on Friday, October, 19.
