11:29am Tuesday 2nd October 2012 in News
THE father who is believed to have killed his children near Newton Stacey on Sunday, stabbed himself to death afterwards, a post mortem has revealed.
Michael Pedersen, 51, was found dead on a bridleway by a dog-walker at 6.15pm along with his children Ben, aged seven and Freya, aged six.
The post mortem examination was conducted yesterday afternoon and found Mr Pedersen died as a result of a number of stab wounds to the chest.
The post mortems of Ben and Freya Pedersen will take place later today.
Mr Pedersen, who was from Chertsey in Surrey, had driven to the lane in his convertible Saab, after visiting his father in Andover. He is believed to have had marital difficulties.
He was a former sergeant in the Household Cavalry who was riding the horse Sefton when Irish republican terrorists exploded a bomb in Hyde Park in 1982, killing four of his comrades. The horse survived its injuries and became a minor celebrity. Mr Pedersen suffered from severe shock.
