More traffic chaos in Winchester after two motorway incidents More traffic chaos in Winchester after two motorway incidents

TWO more incidents added to traffic chaos near Winchester this morning.

A bus fire at Winchester services on the M3 caused hour-long delays between junction nine at Winnall, near Winchester, and junction eight at the A303.

Two appliances were sent from Winchester Fire Station and the bus, a coach, was removed at around 9am, although long delays remain.

A spokesman for Hampshire Fire & Rescue confirmed the bus belonged to a band touring near the area.

She said: “The bus belonged to a rock band and was quite badly damaged but luckily the trailer it was dragging with the band’s instruments inside was safe.”

The cause of the fire is unknown but it is not being treated as suspicious.

Meanwhile the M3 southbound was partially blocked at around 8am after a vehicle collision between junction 11 at South Winchester and junction 12 at Eastleigh.

Both incidents added to delays caused by the closure of the A34 in both directions after a car transporter crash near Whitchurch around 11pm last night.

I'm so relieved that the instruments were safe; I spent many an hour worrying about it until we were told the good news.
Shame about the thousands of inconvenienced motorists (myself included) and all the lost time and money when people failed to get to work on time.
Still, property has always been considered more valuable than people.
